Sydney to Hong Kong Flight

I was a little nervous about using HK Airlines after reading the Tripadvisor reviews so having now had the experience here’s my pros and cons:

Pros

  • Really generous legroom in economy class
  • Polite staff
  • Clean cabin and toilets

Cons

  • Very slow at check in despite checking in online and having to pay to make sure we sat together
  • A confusing gate experience when the staff swapped the signage for the boarding priorities leading to some unhappy punters before they even got onboard
  • Food ok, fairly small portions, limited options so if you didn’t like beef noodles then you were going hungry at dinner! Tip: don’t bother asking for a wine…all drinks are just poured from a can or small bottle into a paper cup 🙁
  • Unloading was possibly the longest experience we’ve ever had, again leading to more rumblings in the ranks, particularly from the poor souls with young children desperate to escape….but at least by the time we got through immigration our bags were waiting for us…always a silver lining…

In summary, wouldn’t hesitate to use this airline again given value for money when on a budget.

Arrived safely!

Welcome to our travels which we see as our life no longer attached to a time clock; Life Unclocked. Our adventures have taken us across continents, through bustling cities and tranquil countryside alike. With each destination, we’ve come to appreciate not just the places we see, but the experiences that linger — the aroma when...

Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and the Palace Museum; this was a big walking day and time on our feet. We joined a tour to cover off these places as it can be easier than trying to do it yourself, especially getting through all the security to get into the Square and into the Palace Museum....

Conveniently located down the road from our hotel, this UNESCO world heritage site (https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/881/) should have been easy to organise a visit to. However, the complexities of arranging anything independently made obtaining tickets a BIG deal…..how hard can it be I hear you ask… well I’ll tell you… Normally a visit to the internet would...

Our first day is in Hong Kong, and it’s been a few years since we were here last. In fact the last time we were here together was back in 2009 with the boys, and my last trip here was probably a decade ago while still working for Ricoh. It hasn’t changed much in that...

Today we set off to visit Macau, which can be reached in a variety of different ways but because we didn’t want to spend $640AUD on a helicopter to get there we decided to take the ferry which is the next best option. You can also take the bus to Macau along the fairly new...

After a short 45 min taxi ride from Da Nang we entered Hoi An to a warm welcome at a delightful boutique hotel. The receptionist was super informative and provided a map of Hoi An Old Quarter and additional info like a good optician for new glasses/tailors/activities and what prices were fair for tours etc....
