Day 74 – Kuala Lumpur

We went to Kuala Lumpur; that’s about enough said about that!!

Our plans for Malaysia were to spend a few days in KL before heading up to George Town (Penang) for the New Year. However, when we got to KL and our accommodation was awful and KL felt really sketchy. We’ve done a lot of travel, and a lot before we came on this trip, but this just didn’t feel good. We had similar experiences in Beijing, Day 7 โ€“ OMG Beijing Arrival, but this one just made us feel like getting the hell out of there.

So we did!!

After 24 hours we got on a plane and headed back to Thailand which has been our go to through this trip. By the end of the trip we will have been to four different spots in Thailand; and one in Malaysia.

Will we ever go back to Malaysia, who knows!! We’ve seen the Petronas Towers, so at least we earned a badge.

So, we finally made it to Macau. That makes it sound like it was epic to make it to another country in our trip, but it was actually super easy. Getting there was a breeze using the TurboJet ferry, and Wendy has written about this here, Ferry HK to Macau. As per normal we chose...

Due to the respiratory virus and all the flights so far, my right ear was in need of some medical intervention. A quick search around online led to Bangkok Hospital (actually in Hua Hin so...

Landed in Hanoi after a pleasant 2hr flight with Vietnam Airlines from Bangkok, they even managed a meal service in that time. On landing we made our way to the agreed meeting point to find our free (thank you Booking.com genius reward ๐Ÿ˜€) ride to Hanoi Old Quarter. Some crazy traffic meant this relatively short...

We decided to spend a few days in Rayong, which is on the south east coast of Thailand. It’s about an hours drive from Jomtien where we had been staying previously, and was easy to get back to. There is not much in Rayong, other than a large (it appears) Japanese expat community. Whereas in...

It’s unbelievable, and it happened in my lifetime. Now a popular tourist attraction, the atrocities which happened at The Killing Fields can still be felt. I’m not going to explain what happened here, or of the death of more than 20,000 people who arrived but never left. More information can be found on Wikipedia. There...
