Day 5 – Ferry HK to Macau

There are 3 ways to get to Macau from Hong Kong

  • Ferry – most economical and traditional way around 1hr travel time
  • By Road – shuttle buses that use the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge are an economical choice with travel times of around 1 hour and 35 minutes.
  • Helicopter… great if you have lots of money and need to get there in 15 mins

We went for the TurboJet ferry which provided a very comfortable smooth ride. In fact I could have left the Kwells travel tablets behind but past life experiences have taught me that I don’t have the best sea legs on the smoothest of oceans!

On arrival in Macau, you soon realise you have entered another country with immigration lines to move through before any exploration can begin. I almost managed a swifter passage when one member of staff asked if I was a senior citizen of over 60 and indicated another much shorter line I could join…. if I hadn’t been about to show my passport I may have taken up the offer 🙂

Generally, we look for...

We decided to spend a few days in Rayong, which is on the south east coast of Thailand. It’s about an hours drive from Jomtien where we had been staying previously, and was easy to get back to. There is not much in Rayong, other than a large (it appears) Japanese expat community. Whereas in...

Not looking for sympathy here (well, not much anyway😆) but more to share how impressive the healthcare experience was here. Due to the respiratory virus and all the flights so far, my right ear was in need of some medical intervention. A quick search around online led to Bangkok Hospital (actually in Hua Hin so...
